Terri
and Jennie Frankel - Doublement Twins -1968 Published on Nov 25, 2014 |

In
November & December of 1968, the year of the Tet Offensive, Jennie and
Terrie Frankel (Doublemint Twins) traveled to Vietnam with the USO (United
Service Organization) and performed over 38 shows from Saigon to Danang. When they returned to the States, Terrie wrote this folk song about their experiences. The twins sang this song at Davy Jones Locker in Waikiki in 1969 and it was recorded by a serviceman, Jim Glish, who years later made the tape available to the twins. This video, compiled and edited by Terrie Frankel attempts to capture the realities of war - and to honor Vietnam Veterans, many of whom experienced a less than heroes welcome when they returned from duty. Today there are annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran's Days being organized around the country. Few people realize that over 58,000 soldiers gave their lives during this unpopular war, with over 300,000 wounded and 1,600 missing in action. |
