Vietnam Veterans Of America Chapter 649 Honored by Union Township :

Union Township has selected Vietnam Veterans of American,
Clermont County Chapter 649
as its “Salute to Leaders” award winner
for the year 2008.

This award is given annually to an individual group or organization from each of Clermont's townships that have made a significant contribution to the quality of life for citizens in the community or for all citizens of Clermont County.

In a letter received from Clermont 20/20, Inc. a brief summary of the awardees township contributions was stated
as follows:
“Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 649 has continually served Union Township through ongoing
support and maintenance of the Veteran's Memorial, including the helicopter, brick memorial pavilion and
other related facilities located at Union Township Veterans Park.

Each year the VVA Chapter 649 holds a 24 hour memorial service at Union Township Park in honor all of those who, through the course of service of our nation, have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Additionally, VVA Chapter 649 is involved in numerous charitable and community-oriented events around Union Township and Clermont County and has shown continuous dedication to improving the community.”

VVA Chapter 649 will be presented this award on March 5, 2009 at the annual meeting of Clermont 20/20.

Womens Veterans Memorial Project :

VVA Chapter 649 has begun a new project to erect a memorial at the helicopter to honor the women who served
during the Vietnam War.

Plans are for a monolith style monument with an engraved image of the women's memorial in Washington D.C.

We will need to raise approximately $2500.00 in donor funding to complete the project.

While we are soliciting funding through area businesses, V.V.A. members and individual donations in any amount
are welcomed.

Checks should be made to VVA Chapter 649 Memorial Fund. (note: Women's Memorial Project in the corner of your check).
