Bubp to Receive the Prestigious Legion of Merit Award
Noted for Exceptionally Meritorious Conduct in Iraq

COLUMBUS
House Minority Leader William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) today announced that State Representative Danny R. Bubp will be presented the Legion of Merit medal, an award offered by the armed forces to honor officers and those enlisted in the armed forces who have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.
The award ceremony will be held during a session of the Ohio House of Representatives on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” Bubp said. “I credit our success in Iraq to the surge and all of the young marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors I served with.
I am deeply grateful to General Post for recommending me for this award and flying to Ohio to present it.”

“Representative Bubp has shown great leadership both in the Ohio House and in serving our nation,” Batchelder said.
“I am grateful to have the privilege to work with such an honorable and morally upstanding leader.”

The award celebrates Colonel Bubp for his service as 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Liason Officer to the governor of Al Anbar province last year while serving in Iraq.

“{Colonel Bubp’s} wise advice, diplomatic negotiation, and sheer persistence helped the Governor lead the province through the waning months of a violent insurgency and set the people of Al Anbar on a path towards peace and prosperity,” the citation noted.

“His superb performance of duty during this tour culminated more than 30 years of faithful, honorable and dedicated
Marine Corps service.
Colonel Bubp’s dynamic direction, keen judgment, and inspiring devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.”

The Legion of Merit Medal will be presented by Major General Martin Post USMC (Ret.) at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus during session and a reception hosted by Republican Leader Batchelder will immediately follow session in the Statehouse Rotunda.
The attendance of press, friends and family of Bubp is welcome at both the ceremony and reception.
